Description
The Perth Mint has released the 2026 Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Trio Set consisting of the Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Proof, 1oz Silver Coloured Proof and 1oz Silver Gilded Coins.
According to Chinese tradition, the emperor held a race to determine who should occupy the 12 positions in the lunar calendar. Just as the horse neared the finish line, a snake startled it, but the resilient horse still secured seventh place.
Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990 and every 12th preceding year are said to be independent, charismatic and love a sense of adventure. Being passionate and spirited, they are gifted with natural charm and an ability to inspire others.
The Australian Lunar Series III 2026 Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Trio has an issue limit of 1,500
The reverse of each coin portrays a representation of a majestic mare alongside her young foal, both depicted with elegant manes in a striking galloping stance. The background includes towering mountains and the lush serenity of grasslands.
• The delicately frosted design on the silver proof coin appears on an immaculately polished table.
• The 1oz silver coloured coin depicts the Horses in vivid colour.
• The 1oz gilded coin highlights the Horses in 24-carat gold.
The silver trio is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid decorated with a silver geometric design.
The case is packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper portraying the story of how the Horse became an animal of the zodiac and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The shippers of the coins in the Australian Lunar Series III will, when arrayed together, form a diorama depicting the ancient myth of The Great Race.
