The Perth Mint has released the third coin in the Looney Tunes series, featuring TWEETY BIRD.
TWEETY was originally created by Bob Clampett and first appeared in A Tale of Two Kitties in 1942 when he was pitted against two hungry cats Babbit and Catsello, who were based on popular comedians.
TWEETY started his life as a pugnacious personality with little sympathy for his enemies but was eventually softened by Friz Freleng.
Since starring in 47 original Looney Tunes cartoons, TWEETY has appeared in The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries on the Kids’ WB network, and in Cartoon Network’s and Boomerang’s The Looney Tunes Show with his animated co-stars, as well as New Looney Tunes.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
The reverse of the coin features TWEETY sitting within the concentric rings of the Looney Tunes logo, with his hands resting on his rounded cheeks.
Each coin is presented in a clear acrylic case, allowing both sides of the coin to be displayed, and is packaged within a themed shipper.
The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Tweety Bird 2018 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
