2013 The Land Down Under - Sydney Opera House 1oz Silver Proof Coin

Showcasing aspects of Australia’s ancient culture, its discovery, enviable lifestyle and iconic landmarks, this is the Mint’s landmark series for 2013.

The Sydney Opera House was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007.

One of the world’s premiere performance venues, it is situated at Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour in New South Wales, Australia. Brilliantly conceived, the design was inspired by the flotilla of sails and boats that frequented the harbour.

The Sydney Opera House is a famous tourist destination visited by millions of people every year. Its unique design and location make it one of the world’s most famous landmarks.

The silver coin’s reverse depicts the Sydney Opera House, against a backdrop of colourful fireworks framed within a map shape of Australia.
