The three-metre-high Big Penguin greets visitors on the foreshore of the small town of Penguin, located on the north coast of Tasmania on the traditional lands of the Tommeginne people. Made of ferro-cement and coated with fibreglass, the Big Penguin was erected in 1975 to commemorate the centenary of the proclamation of the township.
