The Royal Australian Mint will produce four specially made 1oz silver frosted uncirculated Dollar coins for the 2011 Australasian Numismatic Dealers Association Shows.
This exclusive series – Capital Bridges will depict an iconic bridge from each hosting state.
The Second coin in the series will feature the Brisbane Story Bridge. Opened in July 1940, this steel cantilever bridge is 777 metres long and was named after John Douglas Story - a public servant. Currently the bridge has 6 lanes of traffic and links Fortitude Valley with Kangaroo Point.
The Royal Australia Mint has a ‘meltdown policy’. Every coin not sold during the ANDA Shows to the public or to dealers are to be melted down.
