Description
The Royal Australian Mint has released this one dollar coloured uncirculated coin to support the Australian Team heading to the 2026 Milano Cortina Games.
Australia first competed at the Winter Olympics in 1936, sending just one athlete to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. For decades, results were modest, as winter sports lacked the infrastructure and popularity of their summer counterparts. That changed in 2002, when Steven Bradbury won Austalia's ad the Southern Hemisphere's first Winter Olympic Gold Medal in short track speed skating, in one of the most iconic moments in Winter Olympic history.
Since then, Australia has steadily grown into a respected winter sports nation.
Coins reverse features a freestyle skier in a dynamic mid-air pose surrounded by snowflakes and Team Australia graphics.
