The Royal Australian Mint has released this one dollar coloured uncirculated coin to support the Australian Team heading to the 2026 Milano Cortina Games.
Australia first competed at the Winter Paralympic Games in 1980 iin Geilo, Norway, with two Athletes. It wasnt until 1992 in Albertville, France, that Australia won its first medal - A bronze by Michael Milton in alpine skiing. Michael went on to become a Paralympic legend, winning six gold, three silver and two bronze medals across four games.
Australia's Winter Paralympic athletes consistently punch above their weight, overcoming challenges to shine on the world stage. Their legacy is one of courage, excellence and national pride - making Australia a respected and inspiring presence in Paralympic winter sport.
The coin's reverse features a dynamic alpine skier surrounded by snowflakes and Team Australia graphics.
