Description

A brown horse with a flowing black mane graces the reverse of this colourful coin celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in Australia. From sunset rides to the thrill of seeing a wild brumby, horses are an esteemed part of the Australian landscape.

The Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the organisation’s work in Australia. Founded in London in 1824 and then in Australia in 1871, the RSPCA works to protect all animals from cruelty.

An independent charity, the organisation relies on community support to run animal rehoming shelters, investigate complaints of animal cruelty and educate the community about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.

The RSPCA promotes the welfare of all animals. In fact, its moniker is “for all creatures, great and small”.

The RSPCA: 150 Years Horse postal numismatic cover is highly collectable, featuring a pictorial envelope with the $1.10 Advocacy stamps from the stamp issue and a coin from the Royal Australian Mint.
