Description

The AC/DC For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) postal numismatic cover marks 40 years since AC/DC released this, their eighth album For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).

For Those About to Rock (We Salute You), released on 23 November 1981, is the eighth studio album by Aussie hard rock legends AC/DC - the eighth to be released in Australia and the seventh to be released internationally. The album is a follow-up to the highly successful Back in Black (1980) and was the band's first number 1 album in the USA. The album reached number 3 in Australia.

Recorded in Paris, this was the third and final collaboration between AC/DC and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. Its iconic title track is based around the Roman tradition of saluting gladiators who were about to enter into battle. The use of cannon fire in the song is said to have come from the band hearing cannons during a televised royal wedding. The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series.
