Description

Beloved of a generation of Australian children, “Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo” was a highly successful television series that screened on the Nine Network from 1968 to 1970. Eric Jupp’s catchy theme music introduced each half-hour episode of the adventures of young Sonny Hammond and his family in the fictional Waratah National Park (actually Sydney’s Ku-ring-gai-Chase National Park). Of course, the real star of the show was Skippy, an unusually intelligent and dextrous grey kangaroo who communicates with characteristic (and fabricated) clicking sounds. In each episode, the endearing Skippy helps the family tackle a range of issues, always managing to save the day.

The original series was exported all over the world and did much to promote Australia internationally.

Today, “Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo” remains a much-loved pioneer of Australian television.

The Skippy the Bush Kangaroo postal numismatic cover is highly collectable, featuring a pictorial envelope with a Kangaroo Paw $1.10 stamp and a coin from the Royal Australian Mint.

The overprinted Stamp and Coin cover was produced by ANDA exclusively for the Melbourne ANDA Money Expo.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 the show was cancelled

This overprint was limited to only 500 covers.

Exclusive overprint featuring the ANDA logo.
