In 2020 the Royal Australian Mint remembers the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War with this special Five dollar silver proof coin.

The coins is commemorating the hopes of peace and in remembrance of all Australians who served.

On the 2nd September 1945, Japanese officials signed the documents formally surrendering to the Allied Forces, and ending the Second World War. 

It had been the deadliest conflict in human history. Almost one million Australians served in the war, and almost 40,000 lost their lives in the fight against European fascism and Japanese aggression.

This commemorative coin features a woman releasing doves, representing peace, and origami cranes: a reference to the children's Peace Monument in Hiroshima, Japan. the woman's hair and garments fall to resemble a wreath wrapping each side of the coin.

The coin comes in a presentation case and comes with a certificate of Authenticity.
