Description

Chinese New Year is one of the most important celebrations and holidays for Chinese people. The festival is a time for families to reunite, to honour household and heavenly deities, as well as ancestors, and remains the most important social and economic holiday in China.

The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the Chinese New Year 1oz Silver Coin.

The dragon is a well-recognised symbol of Chinese culture believed to bring good luck. It is also considered to be a symbol of power, strength, wealth and good fortune.
Chinese knots have been used for centuries as good luck charms, with different types of knots conveying different messages. Today they are widely used for decorative purposes and can be seen hanging in the home or car, or worn as a fashion accessory on earrings, belts, necklaces and bags.

The design of the coin features a dragon in the shape of a Chinese knot, a traditional temple and Chinese lanterns. The design also includes the Chinese characters for ‘Happy New Year’

The coin is housed in a clear latex display case with a black frame, packaged within a beautifully illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity
