In the early 19th century, the discovery of gold led to the gradual clearing of much of regional Australia for farming. The sheer enormity of these new rural properties, and the need to transport livestock long distances required a man on horseback, and so the stockman became an integral part of farming and station life.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of The Land Down Under – Australian Stockman 1oz Silver Proof Coin

The reverse of the silver coin depicts an Australian stockman on his horse watching over a flock of sheep in a rural paddock in colour, framed within the shape of Australia.

Each coin is housed in a unique Australian map-shaped latex case with a stylised shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
