Description

The dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast. In Eastern philosophy, the dragon is said to be a deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority. It is said that those born in the Year of the Dragon are to be honoured and respected.

This tetra-decagon (14 sided) coin draws special attention to the innovative prowess of the Royal Australian Mint.
The first release for this series features an artistic impression of an oriental dragon with the traditional Chinese character for the dragon positioned on the lower side of the design.

Struck on cupro nickel with an uncirculated finish, this coin is presented in a beautifully designed coin wallet with symbolic colouring for that of the Chinese Lunar Year.
