Description

The Stamp and Coin Cover, Australian Open 1905-2005 $5 Uncirculated coin celebrates the Centenary of Australian tennis. The cover contains a 50c stamp and a $1.80 stamp, which depict the old grass courts at the Kooyong lawn tennis club and the new and current venue, the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. The 50c stamp features a stylised image of a male player and a tennis match being played at the Warehousemens Cricket Ground in Albert Park, Melbourne. The first tournament was played in 1905. The $1.80 stamp features the stylised image of a female player against the background of a tennis match being played at Melbourne Park, which is the current venue for the Australian Open. This is a wonderful packaged item to celebrate 100 years of tennis in Australia. This is the only way this coin can be purchased.
