2005 COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS 2005 1oz Silver Proof Coin

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands became an Australian Territory on 23 November 1955 with the proclamation of the Cocos (Keeling) Island Act 1955.

To mark the passing of half a century, The Perth Mint has released a 50th Anniversary commemorative coin struck from 1oz of pure silver in proof quality. With the fascinating history of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, many collectors will view it as an important addition to their collection.

The coin's beautiful design celebrates the pristine beauty of the 27 coral islands and their reputation as a sanctuary for an abundance of wildlife. It depicts a colour image of a Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), which maintains one of the largest breeding colonies in the world on North Keeling Island.

The mintage of this spectalular coin is limited to only 7,500 silver proof coins and will be popular worldwide.

All coins are accompanied by a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity, are housed in teal (greenish-blue) coloured presentation cases.
