The Perth Mint has released the 2009 AAT South Magnetic Pole 100th Anniversary silver proof coin. Douglas Mawson and his group reached the south magnetic pole on the 16th January 1909. Marking this famous achievement the Perth Mint has released the sixth coin in the Australian Antarctic coin series. This series has been very popular with the coins selling very fast and most selling out quickly. This 1oz silver proof coin struck by the Perth Mint is housed in a blue-coloured presentation case, which comes within a stylish outer shipper. A Numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each coin. The South Magnetic Pole silver coin is limited to only 7,500 coins.
