Description
Issued at ANDA 2009 Gold Coast show, the coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 0.4456oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality was very popular and was sold out by the end of the second day at the show. The coin's reverse portrays the grace and majesty of an Australian black swan in flight by Andor Mészáros (1900 - 1972). The design was suggested by the artist in 1966 for the reverse of Australia's new 20 cent decimal coin. Although it was not selected, the magnificent image is fondly remembered by many for its appearance on the obverse of Australia's legendary, but unofficial, 1967 "Goose" Dollar. The coin is housed on a presentation card featuring a ghosted image of the Black Swan accompanied by the ANDA logo and the words PERTH MINT COIN SHOW SPECIAL ANDA Gold Coast 2009. With a limited mintage of only 2,500 of these coins being released on ANDA Coin Show Special presentation cards.
