The World Youth Day 2008 will one of the biggest events Australia will be invloved with this year. The Perth Mint and Australia Post have released this coin and stamp cover to help celebrate this event. The organisers are expecting hundreds of thousands of pilgrams to celebrate in Sydney and to gather around the Randwick Racecourse in July.
The Bronze dollar coin is housed in a first day cover with the offical Australia post World Youth Day stamps, it also has the official World Youth Day Logo in colour.

Two Coin Set
The Perth Mint released this special silver and bronze two coin set, while attending the World Money Fair in Berlin. The Vatican approved portrait of Pope Benedict on both coins and the official World Youth Day 2008 logo on the packaging, this set has a very limited mintage of only 2008. The set was extremely popular at the fair and we have been able to secure a very limited amount of the sets. Be sure not to miss out on this commemorative set.

World Youth Day is the largest youth event in the world and will be held in Sydney from 15-20 July 2008. Organised by the Catholic Church, World Youth Day gathers young people from around the world to build bridges of friendship and hope between continents, people and cultures. With over 500,000 people are expected to attend at least one event over the 5 days. The Perth Mint has released this special 1oz silver proof coin to commemorate this event. The design on the coin has Pope Benedict XVI and the official World Youth Day Sydney 2008 logo. The coin comes housed in a timber presentation case with a colourful outer shipper case. The coin also comes with a numbered certificate and is limited to no more than 25,000 coins.
