The Royal Australian Mint has released a new series in One Dollar coins called "Inspirational Australians". The series of one dollar coins recognises and celebrates individual achievements, and commemorates unique Australians who have made an extraordinary contribution to our society. The first coin in this series features Mary MacKillop. Mary MacKillop was a nun and teacher and founded the sisters of ST. Joseph, she also set up a school for underprivileged children. The one dollar coin is packaged on a card with a picture of Mary.

2008 25th Anniversary of Australia II's Victory
50c Uncirculated Coin
The Royal Australian Mint has released this special 50c uncirculated coin marking the 25th anniversary of Australia's II triumph over America's Liberty in the 1983 America's Cup. The victory still is regarded as one of Australia's greatest sporting achivements. The Yacht skippered by John Bertrand and with its famous Lexcen designed winged Keel, the Australia II victory ended the 132 year winning streak, which is the longest in modern sports history. The coin is presented in a special display card which is shaped in the design of the keel.

Sir Donald Bradman's Birth
Five Dollar Bronze Uncirculated Coin
Sir Donald Bradman was born on the 27th of August 1908, the Royal Australian Mint has released this special five dollar bronze uncirculated coin for the Don's 100th Anniversary of his birth. This coin is celebrating another century for the greatest batsman of all time. Sir Donald's batting included World Records for highest runs scored (334), highest test batting average (99.94), most double centuries (12) and the most runs scored in a single day's play (309 against England in 1930). The coin is presented in a full colour pack. The purchase of this coin will see a portion of the proceeds from each sale go to the Bradman Foundation.

The 2008 $1 Mintmark coin embodies the elements of the original Coat of Arms granted in 1908 by HRH King Edward VII, seven years after federation. The coin design depicts the kangaroo and emu supporting the shield with pride. Some say these animals were chosen to symbolise a nation moving forward, based on the common belief that neither animal can move backwards easily. The shield displays the cross of St.George. Above the shield is a seven-pointed star, six of the points represent each of the States of the Commonwealth, the seventh point represents the Commonwealth Territories.

The Royal Australian Mint’s annual ‘strike-to-order’ Subscription $1 Silver Proof coin is now available to order. Struck to the highest Proof quality from 60.4 grams of 99.9% silver the coin recreates the 1921 Kookaburra Penny.
The 1921 Kookaburra Type 12 penny, never went into circulation, and the original is very highly sourt after amongst collectors of rare coins. Official legal tender of Australia the mintage will be restricted. Measuring 50mm in diameter each coin will be presented in a plush, official RAM case with numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The Australian International Polar series coins are part of an international program where a number of countries have issed silver proof coins commemorating the International Polar Year. The first in the series of Australian silver proof coins, features a foreground image of the Antarctic Skua in flight. These large heavy built birds are located in the subantarctic Islands and on the Antarctic continent, with a reputation of being fierce and aggressive.
