The Perth Mint has released a tribute to the contribution of Husky dogs in the Antarctic. Australia kept huskies on the icy continent for almost 40 years beginning in 1954 with the opening of Mawson Station. As well as proving to be hard-working, reliable forms of transport, they were also loyal companions and much-loved by Australian Antarctic expeditioners. The coin’s reverse depicts a team of huskies pulling a sled with a coloured Antarctic sky in the background. The design, which also incorporates a coloured image of a husky appears within the shape of the Antarctic continent.
This 1oz silver proof coin struck by the Perth Mint is housed in a blue-coloured presentation case, which comes within a stylish outer shipper. A Numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each coin. The husky silver coin is limited to only 7,500 coins.

The Perth Mint’s has released the second of its annual ANZAC Day dollar coins paying tribute to all those who have served or are currently serving with the Royal Australian Navy. For close to 100 years, the men and women of the Royal Australian Navy have displayed extraordinary professionalism, discipline and courage. Whether in wartime or on peacekeeping operations, they have served with honour, fully supported by a nation proud of its Navy. As well a recognising their enormous achievements, this coin also symbolises the nation’s extreme gratitude to those sailors who have made the supreme sacrifice. The coin’s reverse portrays HMAS Parramatta, a 'River' Class Torpedo Boat Destroyer built for the Royal Australian Navy before World War I and the image of a Leading Seaman from the same era. With a silhouetted bugler in the background. It is presented on a colourful presentation pack.

The Perth Mint has released the Sydney Cove Medallion for the first time since it was created by Josiah Wedgwood, ‘The Father of English Potters’, the Medallion’s classical design has been replicated on the reverse of an Australian commemorative silver coin. Meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin has a remarkable ‘high-relief’ reverse which captures the beauty and fine detailing of the original Wedgwood portrayal.
The design of Josiah Wedgwood’s Sydney Cove Medallion appears on the coin’s reverse in ‘high-relief’. The work was originally entitled Hope encouraging Art and Labour under the influence of Peace to pursue the employments necessary to give security and happiness to the infant colony .
Reflecting contemporary British interest in neo-classicism, the design portrays four classical figures on the shores of a bay. To the left, Hope is standing on a rock before an anchor. She is extending her right hand towards the other three, namely: Peace, with a horn of plenty at her feet and an olive branch in her hand; Art, also a female, who is holding an artist’s palette; and Labour, a male figure, who has a sledgehammer over his shoulder.
Just 5,000 of these superb collector pieces will be released by The Perth Mint as part of a special set which also features an exclusive fine bone china plate made by the Wedgwood company.

Lachlan Macquarie, who began his 11-year tenure as Governor of New South Wales 200 years ago on 1 January 1810, ushered in unprecedented social, economic and architectural development in the colony founded in 1788 as a prison for British offenders. The reverse design is accompanied by his portrait, images of Sydney’s ‘Rum’ Hospital, and a holey dollar and dump. The design also incorporates a representation of words in an 1817 dispatch in which Macquarie urged Britain to formally adopt the name ‘ Australia’.
