Silver Dollar Coin
The Perth Mint has released the second coin in the orbital and beyond coin series. This coin pays tribute to the first man into space - The soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Yuri became a national hero by becoming the first human in space and the first to orbit the earth on 12th April 1961. The coins design portrays a montage of images symbolising Yuri's epic journey. Blasting off from Baikonurin soviet central Asia, he completed a single orbit of the Earth in 108 minutes before re entering the atmosphere and parachuting back to the Soviet Union. The coin is housed in a display case and accompanied by a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The Perth Mint has released this special 1oz silver proof coin to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Christmas Island becoming an Australian Territory. On the 1st October 1958 Christmas Island became a Australian Territory after being under the British empire for many years. Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean approx. 2,650Km north-west of Perth and under Australian jurisdiction, more than 60% of the Island is now protected for the benefit of its many unique and unusual species and the preservation of their habitat. The coins design depicts the Golden Bosun bird, which is unique to Christmas Island, and a coloured large Red Crab. Millions of Red Crabs migrate annually from the rainforest on Christmas Island to the ocean. The Perth Mint has announced a new iconic series of Gold proof coins. The Koala coin has long been a symbol of the Perth Mint and now it is available in 99.9% pure Gold proof coins. The new gold coins are available in four sizes these include: 2oz, 1oz, 1/10oz and 1/25oz. The Australian 1oz gold koala coin is struck in "High Relief", the 1oz coin is struck on a thicker blank to accommodate the greater design depth on its specially prepared die. The Humpback Whale is known for its long, complex songs and unusual water acrobatics, the Humpback whale is perhaps the most interesting of the whales. Frequently spotted in shallow waters near coastlines, Humpbacks migrate seasonally from polar feeding grounds in summer to tropical and subtropical breeding locations in winter. While the Humpback whale is graceful they are slow and fat, because of this the humpback whales were targeted by whalers, and were killed by open boat whalers with hand harpoons in the 19th century. However, they survived in numbers until the 1950s and 1960s when illegal whaling reduced their numbers to near-extinction.

The design incorporates a shield containing the badges of the six Australian States
The border of the shield symbolises Federation, which occurred in 1901. The crest, featuring a wreath of gold and blue and a seven-pointed star, appears above the shield, which is supported by the kangaroo and emu. This coin has a limited mintage of just 7,500 coins.

The Stamp and Coin Cover released by Australia Post and the Perth Mint depicts the lunar year zodiac theme: Year of the Rat. The Australian legal tender coin, depicting a striking image of two rats. The coin is mounted on a brightly illustrated card featuring a Chinese style image. The card and coin are presented in a coloured envelope featuring a circular window to display the coin. The envelope displays a Christmas Island stamps with a 50c and a $1.45 stamp.

2008 Early Governors of Australia
5 Coin Silver Set
This five-coin collection pays tribute to Australia’s first five Governors - Arthur Phillip, John Hunter, Philip Gidley King, William Bligh and Lachlan Macquarie – whose leadership helped lay vital foundations for the future nation. Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz pure silver in proof quality.
The reverse of each silver coin portrays a Governor and a convict chain. Each reverse includes a coloured illustration of a symbolic moment in the Governor’s tenure.
Arthur Phillip (1788-1792)
The coloured reverse illustration depicts the Union flag being raised at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788.
John Hunter (1795-1800)
The coloured reverse illustration symbolises his reform of the management of convict labour.
Philip Gidley King (1800-1806)
The coloured reverse illustration depicts his famous Proclamation, posted on the Government store in 1800, providing relative values for the mix of foreign coins in the colony.
William Bligh (1806-1808)
The coloured reverse illustration depicts the ‘Rum Rebellion’ of 1808 and his reputed effort to escape arrest by hiding under a bed.
Lachlan Macquarie (1810-1821)
The coloured reverse illustration includes an image of the Holey Dollar and Dump, created by punching the centre out of Spanish silver dollars.
Each coin, which is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse. The collection is housed in a leather-look book-style timber case accompanied by an 8-page historical booklet providing information on each Governor. Just 1,808 of these collections will be released. Each collection is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
