When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Sydney on the 3rd February 1954, she became the first reigning Monarch to visit Australia. A significant milestone in Australian history, the 1954 Royal Visit was celebrated with the issue of a commemorative florin, one of only four produced in Australia between 1927 and 1954. The coin's unusual reverse, by William Leslie Bowles, depicts a British lion and Australian kangaroo standing shoulder to shoulder. Issued to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the visit, this Australian legal tender coin, struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of pure silver, features a reproduction of the 1954 florin design on its reverse. Further numismatic appeal derives from the selective use of 24-carat gilding on the coin's reverse and obverse. Mintage has been set at 12,500 individual Royal Visit 50th Anniversary Florins. The coin's blue, flag-shaped presentation case is a reminder that during her visit, the Queen signed the Australian Flags Act. Each coin is accompanied by a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The Perth Mint has released a silver proof commemorative coin celebrating the 50th anniversary of Mawson Station. Named in honour of Douglas Mawson, who did more than anyone to establish Australia's tradition for scientific, geographic and hydrographic research in the world's highest, driest, coldest and windiest continent. Australia has a proud history of exploration and scientific research in Antarctica. Mawson Station is now 50 years old, it is the oldest continually operating station south of the Antarctic Circle, named in honour of Sir Douglas Mawson. The coin is struck from 99.9% pure silver in proof quality with colour incorporated in the reverse design, with a limited worldwide release of only 7,500 coins. The coin portrays an Emperor Penguin with its chick, symbolic of two colonies living near to the station. Issued as Australian legal tender.
All coins are individually packaged in a blue lacquered metal presentation case, accompanied by a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

On the 12th of September 1854, the Melbourne and Hobson's Bay Railway Co. which linked Melbourne with its port, became the first steam railway to open in Australia.
The company began building its four kilometre line only the year before. Soon after being tested in May 1854, Australia's first steam train - essentially an improvised locomotive hauling several ballast trucks took directors of the new railway company for a ride at giddying speeds up to 29 kilometres per hour.
The company had two steam trains built and they successfully operated the Melbourne Hobson's Bay Railway Co's half-hourly service between Melbourne and Sandridge (Later Port Melbourne) until the end of the year, marking the beginning of the railway age in Australia.
Issued under the authority of the Cook Islands, this pure proof silver coin, featuring colour on its reverse design, has been released by the Perth Mint to mark the 150th Anniversary of this important milestone in railway history. This coin has a limited mintage of only 4,000 coins worldwide and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The 1/2oz coin resembles a square-shaped kookaburra pattern penny, struck and trialed by the Commonwealth Government between 1919 and 1921, but never officially circulated.
