Australian Two Dollar Banknote and
Two Dollar Proof Coin Collector Pack

One of the original decimal issues, the Two Dollar Banknote was first seen in 1966, replacing the 1913-65 £1 of the predecimal era. Just 22 years after the first Two Dollar Banknote was issued, the greater durability and cost-efficiency of a Two Dollar coin saw the Government withdraw the note from circulation. The last of its kind, and a must-have in strictly Uncirculated quality, as here, the Johnston/Fraser $2 is an historic reminder of the early days of decimal currency.

The Two Dollar coin, brought in to replace the Two Dollar banknote in 1988, played both a practical and a symbolic role. Issued in the year Australia celebrated 200 years of European settlement, the depiction of the Aboriginal Elder represented the timely return of indigenous themes to Australian currency.

Only 100 of the 500 sets available in Australia, don’t miss this chance to be one of the few to enjoy this affordable set.

Two Dollar Limited Edition Pack

An essential for anyone who owns its $1 counterpart, the Last Two Dollar Limited Edition Pack offers that same attractive combination of history, presentation, quality and, best of all, value.

Driven from use by inflation, and by the obvious contrast in cost efficiency when compared with a possible $2 coin, the $2 note was consigned to history in 1985. It was last issued during the Johnston/Fraser signature combination. The $2 coin that replaced it was crafted from aluminium-bronze, and was rightly thought to be a more durable, more economical alternative to the paper note. Issued in Australia’s bicentennial year, the new $2 recognised the nation’s indigenous cultures, with the design featuring a tribal elder beneath the Southern Cross.

Each colourful presentation pack comprises 1953-64 florin, shilling, sixpence, threepence, penny and halfpenny (6 coins) combined with the very first portrait decimal coin set (1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, & 50c dated 1966-84).
