Sydney to Athens
2004 Three Coin Set

The Mint has released a limited three coin set containing a tri-metal coin which is exclusive to the set. The other two coins are the silver $5 Proof coin and the $5 Unc bronze coin which are available individually.
The copper outer host ring supports the fine silver ring with the centre focal point being 24 carat gold.
The gold forms the platform for the hologram of the Australian Olympic Team Logo. The design brings together the antiquity of the games and two cultures with two entwined branches. A branch of laurel, representing the Ancient and modern games, and a branch of Australian wattle have been intricately incorporated on the reverse. The fine and renowned quality of the coins is complimented in a superbly crafted Australian Sheoak timber presentation case. Gold embossed details on the timber case include the Australian Coat of Arms and the Australian Olympic Committee logo. The collection is completed with a descriptive book and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. All coins are dated 2004.
The exclusive offering of the proof coin featuring precious metals and a hologram is complimented by the very limited number released.
The mintage of the three coin set is only 2,500.

Sydney to Athens
2004 $5 Silver Proof Coin

Four years have passed since Sydney hosted the Millennium Olympic Games. The Royal Australian Mint continues this tradition as the Australian team makes the journey from Sydney, to the site of the 2004 games in Athens. The link between the two cities in the design featuring two iconic buildings, the Parthenon in Athens in the foreground, and the Sydney Opera House in the Background, is produced on the $5 silver proof coin. The bridge between the cities is created in the holographic Australian Olympic logo. This is the first time that the Australian Olympic logo is featured in this state of the art technique. Reinforcing the colours of the Australian Team's participation the presentation case includes a silver laurel wreath, an ancient and traditional symbol of success. This detail will attract the Olympic souvenir collector and offers a prestigious memento. The $5 silver proof coin is minted from 99.9% pure silver and the total mintage is 17,500, individual coins 15,000 and 2,500 aspart of the three coin set. The printed outer box and numbered certificate complete the presentation. This coin is dated 2004.
