Description
The 1st release in the Wildlife in Need series is the Giant Panda. The Giant Panda is a peaceful, bamboo-eating member of the bear family native to China. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Known for its solitary nature, the Giant Panda has an acute sense of smell and can grow up to five feet in height. They have steadily lost their forest habitat to China’s expanding human population. These striking animals are now confined to fragmented forest patches high in the mountains of south western China.
The coin’s reverse features an adult Giant Panda and cub in colour, against a backdrop of bamboo forest and a mountain. The lower reverse comprises a struck design showing apair of supporting hands with a bamboo motif incorporated into the design.
This coin is housed in a Perth Mint standard shape black presentation case and illustrated shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
