Description
The polar bear is easily recognised by its distinctive shape, from its round posterior to its pointed black nose. Although the bear’s fur looks white, each hair shaft is actually pigment-free and transparent with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light, much like what happens with ice and snow.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2017 Polar Babies – Polar Bear 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin.
The coin’s reverse features a polar bear cub in the snow. The inscription POLAR BEAR.
