Description

Australia’s first Anzac Day took place on 25 April 1916, one year after the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli, the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

The date, 25 April, was officially given the name ‘Anzac Day’ in 1916.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 of The Anzac Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series – Anzac Day 100 Years 2016 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin.

The coin’s reverse depicts an Australian soldier leaning on his gun with his head bowed in remembrance. The design includes a red poppy, the inscriptions ANZAC DAY 100 YEARS and PRIDE RESPECT GRATITUDE.

Each coin will be presented in a black and red themed display case featuring the words ‘PRIDE’, ‘RESPECT’, and ‘GRATITUDE’ on the outside of the case, within a themed shipper.
