Description

It was the world’s most famous passenger ship disaster. On a cold, moonless night just before midnight, the ‘unsinkable’ Titanic struck an iceberg. An estimated 1,517 doomed souls met their end in the freezing waters of the North Atlantic. In April 1912, the Titanic was the largest and most luxurious passenger steamship in the world. The colossal vessel weighed 46,328 gross tons, measured just under 883 feet in length and stood as tall as an 11-storey building. Prior to the fateful collision, several ice warnings had been telegraphed by other ships in the vicinity. However, for a variety of reasons, only one of those messages had reached the Captain and the bridge. The warnings were ignored and the ship maintained a perilous speed of 22½ knots, heading straight for catastrophe.

Each coin is presented in a prestigious display case with an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
